MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN SOMEONE'S LIFE: Help Women Who Are Living In Poverty Change Their Life

Poverty is a reality for millions of women around the world. These women are more likely to experience domestic violence, drug addiction, HIV, food insufficiency for self and family, compromised parenting, depression, homelessness, and impaired, endangered, and sick children, and problems with health care. Women living in poverty report that they feel powerless and trapped, and lack resources and support to change their lives so that they can get out of poverty. Statistics provided by the World Bank and other organizations indicate that poverty around the world is being reduced, resulting from efforts made by governments and private organizations.
In 1976, Muhammad Yunus and the Grameen Bank launched a micro-credit initiative, which has enabled millions of people in Bangladesh to get out of poverty.  WomenTeachingWomen (www.womenteachingwomen.org) helps in the process by teaching women the basics of starting and managing a business.  They then help the women to write business plans, secure financing and start their business.  WomenTeachingWomen also provides continuous support and mentoring to assure that the business is a success and the loans are re-paid.  The women who participate in the WomenTeachingWomen program are successful in regaining their lives from the grip of poverty.  They not only change their own life, but they make sure that their children get an education and live a better and more hopeful life.
WomenTeachingWomen has brought their program model to developing countries in Africa, Southeast Asia and the USA.  Now they are proposing several new projects in the middle east.  You can help support the good work that WomenTeachingWomen does by contributing to their Indiegogo fundraising campaign.  http://www.indiegogo.com/WomenTeachingWomenempowering-women-to-be-financially-independent?a=220437
